Mihue Jang

Principal Research Scientist Korea Institute of Science & Technology

Mihue Jang is a Principal Research Scientist at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), specializing in NK cell–based immunotherapy and next-generation CAR-NK platforms. Her research focuses on developing non-viral engineering strategies, including circRNA-based CAR systems, to enable scalable and safe immune cell therapies. She has contributed to advancing approaches that overcome key challenges in solid tumors, such as antigen shedding and tumor microenvironment–mediated suppression. Her work also extends to expanding NK cell therapeutics into fibrotic and autoimmune diseases. Dr. Jang has led multiple translational research programs and serves as a corresponding author on publications in high-impact journals including Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy, Theranostics, and Biomaterials.

Non-Viral CAR NK Platforms for Broad Therapeutic Applications in Cancer & Beyond
10:00 am
  • Advancing non-viral CAR-NK platforms: Development of mRNA and circRNA-based CAR-NK systems enabling rapid, scalable, and safer manufacturing compared to viral approaches
  • Overcoming key barriers in solid tumors: Strategies to address antigen shedding (e.g., MSLN), CAR downregulation, and TME-mediated suppression (including TGF-Beta resistance and metabolic reprogramming)
  • Expanding therapeutic scope beyond oncology: Application of engineered NK cells in non-malignant diseases, highlighting next-generation targets and translational opportunities
